If Lackey didn't sign with the red sox would he suddenly 'suck' according to red sox fans?

had he signed with the yankees, they would have been like, oh well, we own him, he sucks. in a couple of years, he will be no good,lol the yankees didn't get better and then they would overrate every little small move the redsox did, like now,lol but that's with every fanbase though:)
