Why do people translated the Bible of the new testament to Greek, when it was Hebrew speaking people that wrot?

The Greek language then was like the English language today- universal. Why translate the Bible at all? So that all of mankind is able to read it, of course. The OT was written in Hebrew . The NT was originally written in Aramaic and Greek.
