I don't want to sound rude or naive but I need some advice...?

I would suggest taking a small cl (like at a community college) or something to see if that's the career you really want first, since there is quite a bit to professional photography. If it is consider it the career path from there. Despite the situation I think it's really awesome that your're considering doing something you like over something you're unhappy in :)
