Can I burn methanol in this engine?

I have a single cylinder petrol engine with an intake manifold and carby made entirely of br and the carby has an adjustable main jet to increase fuel flow. Can I run this engine on a mixture of gasoline and methanol without adding corrosion inhibitors? This is not a race engine but an old stationary engine driving a water pump.
